What is RAP?
Recycled Asphalt Product describes removed and/or reprocessed pavement materials containing asphalt and aggregate. These materials are generated when asphalt pavement is removed during resurfacing or reconstruction projects such as to obtain access to buried utilities etc.. When the material is removed it is brought to a processing location where it is refined and ready to be re-constructed into a new Recycled Asphalt Driveway.
RAP Is Strong
Recycled asphalt driveways form a durable base superior to gravel as the recycled asphalt millings compact to become much more dense and stable than gravel. When properly crushed and screened, RAP consists of high-quality aggregate coated by asphalt cement and contains rich amounts of the original tar and oils that bind the materials together; and over time your recycled asphalt product driveway will bond together to give you a base infrastructure almost as solid as hot mix asphalt.
It Looks Good
The appearance of a Recycled Asphalt driveway is a hybrid between a gravel driveway and a hot asphalt driveway and is an attractive and unique characteristic, and will vary depending on wether you chose to have your recycled asphalt driveway sealed or not. Leave your driveway au natural for a more country look or have it sealed for for a darker look with the added benefits that the sealcoating provides.
RAP Is Affordable
Recycled asphalt product is budget friendly alternative to hot asphalt and is environmentally responsible also! Stop using gravel and enjoy a dust free, mud free, pothole free, durable driveway using recycled asphalt product. As gravel disintegrates over time it needs to be replenished more frequently, where RAP does not need frequent upkeep saving you money over time.
Environmental Benefits
Taking reclaimed asphalt away to landfills is not an option as it doesn’t decompose. Thus, the use of recycled asphalt is friendlier to the environment as it is put to use again. Re-use also conserves natural resources like stone, sand, and gravel, and nonrenewable resources like oil. Using recycled asphalt helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions by reducing the amount of energy required to make new asphalt material, reducing our need for fuel-based chemical manufacturing processes and since RAP does not require quarrying or mining, air and water pollution are significantly reduced.
What We Do With It
We work with local infrastructure partners to source quality materials when they become available. We quality check the materials we use to make sure that we are getting you the very best material that is available in your area. Before installation your driveway area is prepped and graded to fill potholes and low spots, and to allow water to run off in the right direction eliminating drainage issues. Where traditional asphalt is installed hot, recycled asphalt is laid without using heat, and is spread using a paving machine to properly grade and compact the asphalt and is further compacted using a compaction roller.
